Card readers: coming soon
Card clocking (NFC or RFID cards, tapped on an NFC tablet or read by a USB card reader) is coming soon: it will be switched on once it has been tested on our terminals. Today workers say who they are with a printed QR badge or their badge number, and a face match, or their PIN, checks it is really them.
What to use today, and what is coming
QR badges and badge numbers work on every kiosk now, with nothing extra to buy. Cards will join them once they have been tested on our terminals.
Printed QR badges, today
Print badge cards with a signed QR code from the Badges page. The worker taps Scan badge and holds it up to the tablet camera, and a code that has been altered is refused.
Badge numbers, today
Every worker has a badge number they can type on the kiosk screen. Forgot it? The kiosk can find it with a face check.
Then a face match, or a PIN
The badge says who the worker is; the face match checks it is them. A worker who chooses not to use face clocks in with their own PIN, and each PIN clock takes a photo for review.
NFC and RFID cards: coming soon
A card tapped on an NFC tablet running the TempClock Kiosk app for Android, or read by a USB card reader plugged into the tablet. It will be switched on once it has been tested on our terminals.
Cards will take the same path, in place of the badge, once card clocking is switched on.
Why cards are not switched on yet
We would rather say coming soon than sell you a reader we have not tried on our own kiosks.
Tested before it is offered
The kiosk tablets we rent have no NFC reader, and no USB card reader has been tested on our terminals yet. Cards will be switched on once they have been.
Nothing to buy today
QR badges are printed from the Badges page on any office printer, and badge numbers need nothing at all. The kiosk camera reads the QR code.
The same check either way
Whether a worker shows a QR badge today or taps a card later, the face match or PIN still checks it is the badge holder, and the match score is logged.
