Kiosk & Clock-In

Kiosk Devices, Badges and Cards

Give each kiosk tablet its own key so only your tablets can clock workers in, print QR badge cards, and link NFC or RFID cards to workers.

Overview

Your tablets, and how workers identify themselves.

At the kiosk a worker first says who they are with their badge number, then the face match checks it is them. The badge can be typed, scanned from a printed QR badge with the tablet camera, read by a USB badge reader, or tapped as an NFC card on an Android tablet running the TempClock kiosk app. Separately, each tablet can be registered with its own key, so a kiosk page opened on an unknown device cannot clock anyone in.

Register a Tablet

One key per tablet.

Open Kiosk devices

Agency console: Sites > Kiosk devices. Client dashboard: Sites > Kiosk devices (tenant admins).

Register the kiosk

Under Register a kiosk, choose the client and Site, give it a Name (for example "Gatehouse 1") and click Register and show set-up QR.

Scan the QR on the tablet

On the tablet, scan the QR code (or open the set-up link) once. The kiosk opens on its site and registers itself; the code then stops working. The code is shown only once and runs out after a short time: if you lose it, click New set-up code.

Note

The Android kiosk app stores the key so it survives restarts. In a browser (for example on an iPad) the key is kept in the browser's storage: clearing it means issuing a new set-up code.

Unregistered Kiosks

Off, Log, then Enforce.

Policy What happens when a kiosk without a valid key clocks someone, looks up a badge or signs in a visitor
Off Allowed, not recorded.
Log Allowed, and flagged so you can see which tablets are not registered.
Enforce Refused.

Set the policy per client under Unregistered kiosks. Start with Log, register every tablet, then switch to Enforce.

Lost or Stolen Tablets

Stop it working at once.

Under Registered kiosks you can see each tablet's site and when it was last seen. Revoke a lost or stolen tablet and its key stops working immediately.

Printing QR Badges

Faster than typing.

Open Badges

Agency console: Workforce > Badges. Client dashboard: Workforce > Badges.

Choose the workers

Choose the client (and a site if you like), tick the workers and click Print badges for selected.

Print at 100%

Print or save as PDF at 100% scale (no "fit to page") so cards come out at credit-card size (85.6 x 54 mm). Each card has the worker's name, badge number and a QR code the kiosk can scan.

Note

The QR code is signed for your account, so a QR made elsewhere with someone's badge number is not accepted.

NFC and RFID Cards

Tap a card on an Android kiosk.

On the Badges page, type or scan each card's number into NFC / RFID card next to the worker. A card number can only belong to one worker per client. At an Android tablet with NFC running the TempClock kiosk app, the worker taps the card instead of typing their badge. NFC card reading is not available on iPads.

Badge Readers

USB barcode, QR or card readers.

A USB reader that types the badge number and presses Enter works without any set-up: plug it into the tablet and scan. It is faster and more reliable than typing.
