The SMS Add-on

Text messages to workers are an optional monthly add-on. Here is what it costs, how it is switched on, who receives texts and what they are sent.

Overview

Email is included; texts are optional.

TempClock emails workers about their shifts as part of the standard price. The SMS add-on adds text messages: booking digests, changes and cancellations, reminders, cover offers workers accept by replying YES, confirmations and enrolment links. Texts are sent through Twilio, which is listed as a sub-processor in our privacy policy.

Price

A monthly fee plus each text.

Note

A text of up to 160 plain characters is one segment. Longer messages, or ones with some accented characters, use more than one.

Switching It On

Two switches.

The add-on: ask TempClock (raise a support ticket or contact your account contact). We switch it on for your account and the monthly fee starts that day.
Your own switch: in the client dashboard, Setup > Settings, tick "Text workers about their shifts". Your agency can set the same switch on the client.
You can switch your own texts off at any time; the add-on itself is switched off by TempClock on request.

Which Workers Get Texts

Only those who agreed.

Workers who have opted in to texts (recorded on their worker record, with the date).
Workers with a valid UK mobile number.
Everyone else is skipped, and the reason is shown in Messages sent.

What Is Sent

In the worker's own language.

Messages go out as one digest per worker, in English, Polish, Romanian or Lithuanian according to the worker's preferred language. See Confirmations and Cover Offers for how replies work.

Your Bill

Shown each month.

Your billing page shows whether the add-on is on, the texts sent so far this month and the price per segment. After each month ends, the monthly fee (pro rata) and the segments sent while the add-on was on are added to your next invoice.
