Global Settings
Configure system-wide settings that apply to all kiosks and portals, including face recognition thresholds, kiosk behaviour, and work rules.
Overview
What the Global Settings page controls and who can access it.
The Global Settings page is the central hub for system-wide configuration in TempClock. Every setting on this page applies across all locations, kiosks, and portals in your account. Changes take effect immediately after saving — there is no delay or propagation time.
Only users with the Admin role can access Global Settings. Standard managers and portal users will not see this page in the sidebar.
Before you start
- You must be logged in with an Admin account
- Navigate to Settings > Global Settings in the sidebar

Global Settings affect every location in your account. If you need location-specific overrides, check the individual location or kiosk settings pages instead.
Face Recognition
Control how strictly the system matches workers' faces at the kiosk.
The face recognition section contains a single but important control: the Minimum Match Confidence slider. This determines how closely a worker's live face must match their stored facial descriptor before the system accepts it as a positive match.
The slider ranges from 50% to 99%. As you drag the slider, contextual guidance appears below it to help you understand the security implications of your chosen level.
Best security. Workers may occasionally need to retry if lighting or angle is not ideal.
Good balance of security and convenience. Suitable for most workplaces.
More permissive matching. Slightly lower security but fewer failed attempts.
Not recommended for production. Higher risk of false positives.
Good balance of security and convenience
The confidence percentage is a user-friendly representation of the underlying Euclidean distance calculation. You do not need to understand the maths — simply use the contextual guidance beneath the slider to choose an appropriate level.
For most workplaces, a confidence level between 85% and 94% provides the best experience. Only increase above 95% if you have strict security requirements and good, consistent lighting at every kiosk.
Kiosk Settings
Configure the admin PIN and camera stream interval for all kiosks.
These settings control how kiosks behave across all locations. The two options here — the Admin PIN and the Camera Stream Interval — apply globally and cannot be overridden per location.
4–8 digit PIN to exit kiosk lock mode
How often kiosks send camera frames (2–30 seconds)
Admin PIN
The Admin PIN is a 4 to 8 digit code used to exit kiosk lock mode. When a kiosk is running in fullscreen lock mode, workers cannot navigate away from the clock-in screen. To exit fullscreen and access device settings or the browser, a manager enters this PIN.
The default PIN is 9999. You should change this to something unique to your organisation before deploying kiosks to production.
Choose a PIN that is easy for managers to remember but not obvious to workers. Avoid simple sequences like 1234 or 0000.
Camera Stream Interval
This controls how frequently each kiosk sends a camera frame back to the server, measured in seconds. The value can be set between 2 and 30 seconds.
A lower interval means more real-time camera monitoring but uses more bandwidth. A higher interval reduces bandwidth usage but makes the live camera feed less responsive.
5 seconds
2 seconds — near real-time, higher bandwidth
30 seconds — low bandwidth, less responsive
5 seconds works well for most sites
If your kiosks are on a mobile data connection or limited bandwidth network, consider increasing the interval to 10–15 seconds to reduce data usage.
Work Rules
Set thresholds for overtime alerts and working time compliance.
Work Rules let you define thresholds that trigger alerts and notifications across the system. Currently, this section contains one setting: the Overtime Alert Threshold.
Overtime Alert Threshold
This is the number of hours per week a worker can accumulate before an overtime alert is triggered. When a worker's total hours for the current week exceed this threshold, the system flags them on the dashboard and in relevant reports.
48 hours per week
1 hour
168 hours (full week)
Dashboard, timesheet views, and overtime reports
In the UK, the Working Time Regulations set a maximum average of 48 hours per week. Setting your threshold to 48 hours helps you stay compliant by alerting you before a worker exceeds the limit.
Overtime alerts are informational only. They will not block a worker from clocking in or out. Use them as an early warning to review schedules and redistribute workload.
Saving Your Changes
How to apply your updated settings.
Review your settings
Before saving, review each section on the page to make sure all values are correct. Pay particular attention to the face recognition confidence level and the admin PIN.
Click "Save Settings"
At the bottom of the Global Settings page, click the Save Settings button. All changes are applied immediately across every kiosk and portal in your account.
Verify the changes
A success message confirms your settings have been saved. You do not need to restart kiosks or refresh portals — the new settings are picked up automatically.
All changes take effect immediately. If you change the Admin PIN, make sure to inform any managers who use it to exit kiosk lock mode.
