Creating Social Media Artwork

Step-by-step guide to using the artwork generator to create branded graphics for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X.

Overview

The artwork generator is a browser-based design tool for creating professional social media graphics.

No design experience is needed. The editor uses a live preview canvas with sidebar controls — what you see is exactly what gets exported as a PNG image. Pre-built templates mean you can produce polished output in seconds.

Good to know

For the best results, start with a template rather than a blank canvas. Templates come pre-configured with professional typography, colours, and layout.

Size Presets

Choose the right dimensions for your target platform.

Instagram Post

1080 × 1080px — square format, ideal for feed posts

Instagram Story

1080 × 1920px — vertical format for stories and reels covers

Facebook Post

1200 × 630px — landscape format for feed posts and shares

LinkedIn Post

1200 × 627px — professional landscape format

Twitter/X Post

1200 × 675px — landscape format for tweets

A4 Landscape

3508 × 2480px — print-ready resolution for flyers and handouts

Select Custom to enter your own width and height (100px to 5000px).

Backgrounds

Three background options to choose from.

Solid Colour

Pick any colour using the colour picker. Good for bold, clean designs. TempClock orange (#f97316) and dark (#111827) are popular choices.

Gradient

Set a start colour, end colour, and direction (left to right, top to bottom, or diagonal). Gradients add depth and visual interest.

Image

Upload a background image from your computer. Use the opacity slider to control how much the image shows through — great for text overlays on photos.

Text & Typography

Three text layers to work with: Headline, Subtitle, and Body.

Each text layer has independent controls:

Content — type your text, use line breaks for multi-line headings
Font size — drag the slider to resize (headlines typically 48–72px)
Colour — pick any colour, or use the brand colour palette below the controls
Bold & Italic — toggle formatting (headline and subtitle only)
Alignment — left, centre, or right
Position — 9 preset positions (top-left, centre, bottom-right, etc.)
Tip

Use the brand colour buttons at the bottom of the sidebar to quickly copy TempClock brand colours to your clipboard, then paste them into any colour picker.

Logo & Overlay

Add the TempClock logo and a dark overlay for contrast.

Logo: Toggle the TempClock logo on or off, choose its position (4 corners), and adjust its size. The logo renders as an SVG so it stays crisp at any size.

Dark Overlay: Adds a semi-transparent black layer between the background and text. Useful when using a busy background image — the overlay ensures text remains readable.

Using Templates

Start with a template for instant professional results.

Load a template

Use the Load Template dropdown in the toolbar, or visit Marketing > Templates to browse visually. Click a template to load it into the editor.

Customise

Change the text, colours, or background to suit your message. The template sets up the layout and typography — you just swap in your content.

Save as new template

If you create a design you want to reuse, click Save and then use the template save option. Give it a name and category.

Exporting & Saving

Download your finished artwork or save it for later.

Export as PNG

Click the Export PNG button in the toolbar. The artwork is rendered at full resolution and downloaded to your computer as a PNG file.

Save artwork

Enter a name in the toolbar input and click Save. Your design is saved to the database and can be loaded later from the Load Saved dropdown.

Note

Exported PNGs are full resolution (e.g. 1080x1080 for Instagram) regardless of how the preview is scaled on your screen.
