Adding Your First Location
Locations are the foundation of TempClock. Add your first one so workers can start clocking in.
Before You Start
Make sure you have these details ready.
Before you start
- A TempClock account (see Setting Up Your Account)
- The name of the site or building where workers will clock in
- The full address of the location
- The maximum number of people allowed on-site (for capacity / fire register)
You need at least one location set up before you can add workers, configure a kiosk, or do anything else in TempClock. This is the essential first step after creating your account.
Log in to the manage portal
Go to tempclock.co.uk/manage and sign in with the email and password you created during account setup.
Open Settings
Click the Settings icon in the left-hand sidebar. On mobile, tap the menu icon at the top-left corner first to reveal the sidebar.
Click Locations
In the Settings menu, click Locations. This opens the Locations page where you can see all your sites and add new ones.
Adding a New Location
Click the button and fill in your site details.
Click Add Location
On the Locations page, click the + Add Location button in the top-right corner. This opens the new location form.
Filling In Location Details
Enter the name, address, and capacity of your site.
Enter the location name
Give the location a clear, recognisable name. This is how it will appear throughout TempClock — on timesheets, reports, the kiosk screen, and more.
Use a name that your team and workers will instantly recognise, such as Birmingham Warehouse or Manchester Office.
Enter the address
Type the full address of the location. Start typing and TempClock will suggest matching addresses. Select the correct one, or type the full address manually.
The address is used on timesheets and reports, and helps identify the site if you have multiple locations with similar names.
Set the capacity
Enter the maximum number of people allowed on-site at any one time. See the section below to understand what this number is used for.
Understanding Capacity
What the capacity number does and why it matters.
The capacity figure you set for each location serves two important purposes in TempClock:
The dashboard shows a live occupancy bar for each location. When the number of clocked-in workers approaches the capacity, the bar turns amber, then red. This helps you spot overcrowding before it happens.
TempClock maintains a real-time fire register of everyone on-site. The capacity figure is included in the fire register report so fire marshals and emergency responders know the maximum expected occupancy.
Set the capacity to the number provided by your fire risk assessment or building landlord. If you are not sure, check with your health and safety officer. You can always change it later.
Saving Your Location
Confirm the details and save.
Review the details
Before saving, double-check the location name, address, and capacity are correct. The name appears on all timesheets and reports, so make sure it is spelt correctly.
Click Save Location
Click the Save Location button. You will see a green confirmation message and the location will appear in your Locations list.
You can add as many locations as your plan allows. To add another, just click + Add Location again. You can also edit or deactivate locations at any time.
