01TempClock vs Connecteam

TempClock vs Connecteam: depth over breadth

Connecteam is a broad all-in-one app for deskless teams — chat, tasks, training and scheduling. TempClock does one job to the hilt: audit-ready attendance you can bill, verify and prove.

02At a glance

The short version

Connecteam is wide: it bundles communication, task management, training and a time clock into one app. TempClock is deep on the part that ends up on an invoice and in front of an auditor — a face-verified, geofenced clock-in with a match score, agency margins, a client portal and sealed agreements.

TempClock Best for proof & margins

Choose TempClock when verified, billable attendance is the priority — face matching, live margins, client approvals and audit-sealed agreements, UK-hosted, on one flat per-site price.

Connecteam Strong as an all-in-one

Connecteam suits organisations that want a single app to run a deskless workforce end to end — internal chat, checklists, training, scheduling and a basic time clock — and are happy with breadth over depth on any one feature.

04Coverage

Connecteam 0%
Broad across comms, tasks and scheduling; shallower on verified attendance, margins and e-signing.
05Why teams switch

Why teams move from Connecteam to TempClock

Teams move when attendance has to stand up to a client query or an audit — and breadth is not enough.

Verification, not just a photo

TempClock matches the face against the enrolled worker and logs the score, with liveness on top. A photo for a manager to glance at is not the same as a verified, recorded identity.

Margin you can see live

Separate pay and charge rates resolve automatically and the margin totals per placement, client and site as the week builds — not a feature you will find in a general-purpose ops app.

A client portal that bills

Clients see verified hours with the match score and location and approve each entry, so invoices are agreed before they are raised. Connecteam is built for your team, not your clients.

Agreements you can prove

Worker and client agreements are sealed with a SHA-256 digest and backed by an append-only trail. Re-hash any document to prove it has not changed since signing.

06A fair word

Where Connecteam is a strong choice

Connecteam is a capable, popular platform, and for a lot of deskless teams its breadth is exactly the point. Here is where it is the better choice.

  • As a single app for communication, task management, checklists and training, it consolidates tools that would otherwise be scattered across several subscriptions.

  • For organisations whose main pain is keeping a dispersed team informed and coordinated — rather than billing or auditing hours — that breadth is genuinely valuable.

  • Its free and lower tiers make it accessible for small teams getting started, and its scheduling and basic time clock cover everyday needs.

  • If you want one app to do many jobs adequately, that is a reasonable trade against a focused tool that does one job exceptionally.

TempClock is the opposite trade: narrower scope, far more depth on the attendance, billing and compliance that an agency or multi-site employer cannot afford to get wrong. Many teams run both — Connecteam for comms, TempClock for the hours they bill.

08FAQ

Questions teams ask before switching

Is TempClock an all-in-one app like Connecteam?
No, and that is deliberate. Connecteam bundles chat, tasks, training and scheduling. TempClock concentrates on audit-ready attendance — face verification, geofencing, agency margins, client billing and sealed agreements — and does each of those far more thoroughly than a general-purpose suite.
Does Connecteam do facial recognition?
Connecteam can capture a photo at clock-in for a manager to review. TempClock matches the face against the enrolled worker, records a confidence score on every clock-in, and adds ISO/IEC 30107-3 liveness to defeat photo and video spoofs. The first confirms a face was present; the second confirms identity.
Can we use Connecteam and TempClock together?
Yes, and many teams do. Keep Connecteam for internal communication and operations, and use TempClock for the verified, billable hours and the compliance trail. A REST API with HMAC-signed webhooks lets you feed attendance data wherever else it needs to go.
How does the pricing compare?
Connecteam uses tiered plans, with some capabilities reserved for higher tiers. TempClock is one flat £150 per site per month with every feature included, dropping to £112.50 per site at ten or more sites. There are no tiers to outgrow and nothing held back behind an upgrade.
Is TempClock UK-hosted and GDPR-aligned?
Yes. Recognition and all data run on UK infrastructure, faces are stored as irreversible vector signatures rather than photos, and every portal is protected with RFC 6238 two-factor authentication. UK data residency is part of the standard product.
