What is buddy-punching really costing you?

Put in your headcount, hours and admin time. See the wage cost you are leaking, the admin you could automate, and how quickly TempClock pays for itself.

01The method

No black box — here is the whole calculation

Three steps, two of which you control. Show this to your finance team and let them argue with the percentages, not the maths.

01

Recover leaked wages

Your paid hours per year, multiplied by the percentage you recover from stopping buddy-punching and rounding creep, valued at your pay rate. Face-verified clock-ins make it impossible to clock in for someone else.

02

Reclaim admin time

Your weekly timesheet and payroll admin, annualised, multiplied by the percentage that automation removes, valued at the hourly cost of that time. Rates resolve and margins total without a spreadsheet.

03

Net it against the price

Add the two savings, then subtract the published cost of £150 per site per month. What is left is your year-one net benefit, and the saving divided into the cost is your payback period.

A note on honesty. The defaults are deliberately low. Widely cited research puts time theft well above the figure pre-set here; we would rather you reach a number you can defend than one you have to walk back. This tool is an estimate to size the opportunity, not a quote and not a guaranteed saving. Pricing modelled is one site at £150 per month — at 10 or more sites the price drops 25% to £112.50, which only shortens the payback.

02Beyond the number

The saving is only half the return

The hours and the wage cost are what you can put on a spreadsheet. The rest is the part you only value when a client, an auditor or a fire officer asks you to prove it.

Proof

Every hour carries its evidence

A match score, a location and a timestamp travel with every clock-in onto the timesheet, so a disputed hour is settled by the record, not by argument.

Audit

Built to survive a payroll audit

Signed agreements are sealed with a SHA-256 digest and every sensitive action is written to an append-only log, so you can prove a record has not changed since signing.

03FAQ

How the calculator works

How is the annual saving worked out?
Two parts are added together. First, recovered wage cost: a small percentage of your paid hours that face-verified clock-ins remove — buddy-punching and rounding creep — valued at your average pay rate. Second, recovered admin cost: the share of weekly timesheet and payroll admin that automation removes, valued at the hourly cost of that admin time. Both percentages are shown on the page and you can change them.
Why are the default percentages so low?
On purpose. The defaults are deliberately conservative so the result is one you can put in front of a finance team without it being argued down. Industry estimates for time theft run higher than the default here; we would rather under-promise. Move the sliders to match your own experience.
What cost does the payback assume?
The base site fee: £150 per site per month, with every feature included and free setup. The tool models a single site. At 10 or more sites the price drops 25% to £112.50 per site, which shortens payback further. There is no per-clock-in fee. A small infrastructure contribution does apply per worker who clocks in on two or more days in a month (45p each for the first 50 active workers, 35p from 51–250, 25p beyond), but this estimate uses only the £150 base so the payback figure is slightly optimistic for larger workforces.
Is this a quote or a guarantee?
No. It is an estimate to help you size the opportunity. Your actual result depends on how much time theft and manual admin you carry today. Nothing here is a guaranteed saving, and your figures are not sent anywhere unless you choose to start a trial.
Do you keep the numbers I enter?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is transmitted to us or stored. UK-hosted infrastructure and one-click GDPR exports apply once you are a customer, but this tool sends nothing.
